Instrumental Music Program
Group lessons are available to all students in the following musical groups:
- Brass (trumpet, trombone, tuba, euphonium etc)
- Woodwind (clarinet, flute, saxophone)
- Percussion
- Strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass).
Lessons occur during school time, on a rotational basis so that the same school subject is not missed every week. The program promotes an appreciation of music through band and ensemble playing.
Students may borrow a school instrument (subject to availability), however students who already own or intend to purchase their own instrument may also join the program.
Students learning an instrument are expected to join either the Concert Band or String Ensemble when they have reached a satisfactory level.
Concert Band
O.S.H.S. Concert Band is compiled of members of the Instrumental Program. Concert Band rehearses on Tuesday mornings at 8am. Performance opportunities include Awards night, school Showcase, and other community events.
