Our ANZAC service

We held our  Anzac Service on Friday April 22 in our Assembly Hall with Mr Scott Federoff as our guest speaker. He is pictured below with W.O. Peter Gutzeit from School of Army Aviation, Oakey, and Mr Scott |Edmunds, Acting Principal.

Mr Federoff  joined the Navy as a boy sailor at the age of 15½ years.  After a break from the forces for a time, he joined the Army and was involved as a Peace Keeper in Bouganville from 1998 – 2000.

The service was chaired by Vice Captain, Bethany Hoopert, and poems recited by Dominic Dyer and Megan Weber. Chloe Anderson laid the wreath on the stage.

Our Drum Corp led the official guests into our hall, including a Catafalque Party of Air Cadets from 209 Squadron who are also students at our school.

On ANZAC Day we were represented at Jondaryan, Acland, Oakey, Goombungee and Kingsthorpe Citizens' services. Our Drum Corp led the Oakey march, our school captains presented poems at Oakey, and students laid wreaths in a number of centres. See our slideshow of students and staff in the community on the day.
In the words of 'The Ode of Remembrance' we reflect on the significance of the day.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
