Students enjoy Toowoomba show

Taylah Lord poses with our Champion Buck with judged Rene Lockrey from Armidale and Aaron Dagg from Warwick High and his champion Doe.
Oakey High’s Show Team Coordinator, Mrs Deb Goudie, was impressed to have eight of her keenest  Goat Team members at Toowoomba Show - during the school holidays - to participate in the Angora Goat classes.
Year 8 students, Taylah Lord, Virginia Armstrong, Jarrod O’Neil, Elizabeth Ray, Patrick Vonhoff and  Mechell O’Brien, as well as Kaitlyn Bailey from Year 11 and Aimee Lord from Year 7 spent a day at Toowoomba Showgrounds preparing and parading Oakey Creek Angoras.
Oakey State High School’s buck known as Oakey Creek Olaf was named Champion Buck of the School Classes at the show.
In addition to managing the goats during each judging class, Show Team members competed in the Young Judges competition gaining valuable experience and building their confidence.
“I was delighted to have such a significant group of students present on the day, and I thank their parents for supporting their students’ efforts.  A number of school families have become regular faces on the Angora Goat show circuit. Toowoomba was our final show for the year so our goats have now been shorn.”
“Our Angora Show Team has gained momentum over the 2016 show season and  we look forward to our last opportunity for the year at the Brisbane Exhibition in August when our students will participate in the Angora Goat Young Judges competition”, Mrs Goudie concluded.
