Moo Baa Munch

Oakey High students enjoying a break at the end of a very hectic day.

Twenty Oakey High School students were invited to attend Toowoomba’s Moo Baa Munch – getting down to the farm hosted by Downlands College on October 26.

This Agforce Queensland initiative is designed  to give students valuable insight into the broad range of agricultural career paths relating to science, animals and plants.  Moo Baa Munch takes  learning beyond the classroom, and compliments curriculum units related to agriculture, food and fibre, environment and science.

Oakey High students spent the day promoting Angora Goats,  demonstrating fleece classing, and discussing animal husbandry techniques. Their teacher and supervisor, Mrs. Deb Goudie, demonstrated the skill of shearing a goat.

“Our Oakey students received fantastic feedback  from many of the other stall holders. They were very impressed with the wonderful way in which our students interacted with visitors on the day,” Mrs Goudie proudly reflected .
