Former Deputy receives O.A.M.

Mrs Daphne Webster, was one of a number of Australians recognised in the recent Queen’s    Birthday Honours list for service to the communities of Oakey and Toowoomba.
For more than thirty years, Daphne has been actively involved in many local organisations holding leadership or executive roles in most of them.
Mrs Webster arrived in Oakey in 1982 on transfer  from Charleville to Oakey High as Deputy Principal and at that time she was known to students as Miss Burchill. She was Oakey High’s first female Deputy Principal and one of the first ten women in Queensland State High Schools to take on such a role.
Mrs Webster retired from education in 1985 later returned to the high school as a parent, and holding the position of P & C President for four years from 2000.  Since then she has served on two anniversary committees for the school, compiled some of our school history, and is one of our regular QCS supervisors each year.
Congratulations Mrs Webster, and thank you for your contribution to Oakey and our school in particular.
