Equestrian news

Two Oakey High students competed at the Scots Extravaganza held at Morgan Park, Warwick on May 27 to 29. It was a cold windy weekend at Morgan Park for our equestrian riders who competed over the three days.

The event saw over 100 horse and rider combinations compete for top place and qualifiers for the  State Championships  which will be held at Toowoomba Showgrounds at the end of June.

The Warwick competition began with Dressage on Friday.  Both Dakota Cooke  and Lauren Laird competed in separate classes with excellent results.  Dakota finished first in her Preliminary class and Lauren placed 5th and 6th in the Novice Dressage.

The girls stayed overnight and braved the cold to compete in the Combined Training on Saturday.  Lauren was kept very busy competing with two horses over two classes, placing 5th and finishing Reserve Champion.  Great result Lauren!

Dakota also competed on her horse, Santos, and received Champion in her class.

On Sunday Dakota competed in a large field of Showjumpers.  Her determination and consistency throughout the day saw her named Champion in her particular showjumping class.

Oakey High School community wishes the girls all the best for the State Championships.
