ANZAC tributes

Staff and students marching during the ANZAC parade on the streets of Oakey.

In the lead up to Anzac Day, our students were involved in two community events.

A community concert on April 13 in the Oakey Cultural Centre paid tribute to the one hundredth anniversary of ANZAC services, and to those who lost their lives in both World Wars.

Other Oakey High students were part of a dance troupe performing to popular songs from the war years - a presentation which was enjoyed by a very appreciative audience.

Our choristers were also part of a larger choir at the concert, incorporating students from St Monica's School and Oakey State School to sing "Somewhere over the Rainbow" during the concert finale.

Ms Denise Lax worked with our school's specially formed choral group and our music staff, Mrs Polzin and Ms Norrie, to perform "In Flanders Fields" for the concert and ultimately for the Oakey Citizens Service on Anzac Day.

On April 18, our school hosted Ted Egan and his Audio-Visual presentation complete with live music, entitled "The Anzacs 100 years on". Thanks to Harry Lister for his excellent assistance with sound and projection on the night.
